Admissions of babies to the NICU can be:
- Internal: From the gyneco-obstetrics service or the operating room.
- External: From home or transferred from another establishment.
The neonatal service receives newborns with the following cases:
- Prematurity
- Moderate neonatal infection
- Serious neonatal infections
- Early and physiological jaundice
- Inhalation of amniotic fluid
- Repeated vomiting
- Hypotonia and anorexia
- Disease of the hyaline membranes
- Pneumothorax
- Bronchiolitis
- Moaning
- Septic shock
- Monitoring the baby of a diabetic mother
- Moderate respiratory distress
- Severe respiratory distress
- Apneic syndrome
- Post asphyxia syndrome
- Meconial inhalation
- Bronchopneumonia
- Surgical respiratory distress
- Low birth weight children
- Perinatal asphyxia with pulmonary and neurological complications
- Metabolic disturbances in the neonatal period
- Major congenital anomalies
